AIRTRANS Celebrates the Opening of its New Cargo Handling Warehouse at Larnaca Airport

Airtrans Group brand-new air cargo warehouse opened for business on April 5, 2016 with an inaugural ceremony at Larnaka Airport. The impressive 5,000 sqm Air Freight Warehouse features state-of-the-art technology and will increase AIRTRANS’ cargo handling capacity at Larnaca Airport considerably.

Launch customers in the new warehouse include Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, Austrian Airlines, Egypt Air, Blue Air, Air Baltic, Monarch and Royal Jordanian Airlines.

Managing Director for AIRTRANS Mr. Andreas Charalambous, together with Hermes Airports CEO Mr. Wes Porter, performed the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of celebrations.

The warehouse operates with its own x-ray machine in state-of-the-art infrastructure to guarantee the safe and high-speed processing of air cargo. The facility boasts specially constructed office space and yard areas, all privately managed, and is the largest in size at Larnaka Airport with an ideal location with proximity of 200 metres from airside.

Apart from a designated sterile area following security screening, one cold-room position and two additional cool rooms, there are additional special rooms, namely for perishables, dangerous goods, valuables and live animals, enabling AIRTRANS to handle all types of air cargo without exceptions.
